The Etersheimer Break Mill

The Etersheimer Break Mill is a polder mill in Etersheim which drains the polder of the same name, the Etersheimer Break Polder. De Etersheimer Break came about because of a break in the dyke and dyked in 1632. The polder is pumped and drained into the polder. In 1882, the old mill burned down.

The new mill that had been built did not have a long life expectancy, and in 1886 it too burned down. Once again it was decided to build a new one.

The mill was replaced in 1920 by an electric pumping station and  in 1926 the rods were covered. In 1935 the trunk was even sawn off above the cap.

In 1999, after initiatives of the previous year, a foundation was established to actively reinstate the mill. The cap and rods were eventually put back in 2002. And at last the mill was capable of running again in 2005. The mill can pump and grind in circuit.
